Album prettamente acustico di questo eccentrico personaggio che ha vissuto parte della sua giovinezza in Venezuela per poi trasferirsi negli States dove ha intrapreso con buona convinzione la sua carriera. Chitarre acustiche a volontà, coretti in falsetto mai scontato... ne risulta una amalgama Blues/Mex/Tex alternato ad echi anni '60, un figlio dei fiori nato in una diversa epoca. Ascoltando "little yellow spider" sembra quasi di ascoltare un pezzo uscito dalla penna di Donovan. La melodia veloce ed agile di "At the Hop" ti entra subito dentro, "sister" senbra rieccheggiare ciolonne sonore di film western mai girati. Bello, strano, fuori dagli stereotipi attuali, senza traccia di elettronica o tastiere. Al massimo compare uno xilofono, che sembra più il giocattolo di un bambino.
